On Thursday 4th June The Fountain welcomes another culinary innovator from the London food scene. George Horaitis, pioneer in Greek cuisine and Head Chef at Mazi, will bring the authentic tastes of Greece to Fortnum’s.
The Notting Hill-based restaurant prides itself on serving Greek food with a modern twist. Translated into English as ‘together’, Mazi recreates the communal dining traditions of Greece by seating its guests on large communal tables and serving sharing dishes made with fresh and exciting ingredients.
For one night only, Mazi will close the doors of its Notting Hill restaurant and take up residence in Piccadilly. Upon arrival, guests will be greeted with delicious ‘amuse’ shots of Tsipouro, a traditional Greek spirit, and Mazi’s signature Tzatziki Martinis.
Dishes will include fish roe mousse taramaand grilled octopus with summer herb potato salad, while dessert is a sharing platter including loukoumades (Greek doughnuts) in lavender honey and walnuts, and galaktoboureko (crème patissiere wrapped in filo pastry) in sweet syrup and milk custard.
Ticket price is £45, and for an additional £15 guests have the option to add a selection of Greek wines that have been especially paired with the menu.
