Earlier this week we visited the Chop Shop to sample the delights of The Correspondent, St James’s first Dinner Draw.

The lucky winner got the opportunity to create their own bespoke burger with Head Chef Peter Lister of Haymarket restaurant Chop Shop.

We devoured a delicious Aberdeen Angus beef brisket pattie with a yummy salty slice of bacon, smothered with melted raclette and topped with large onion rings on a toasted brioche bun and homemade pickles. We were in culinary heaven.

Lister, previously at The Dorchester, introduced the winner to a selection of fine ingredients from which they selected and helped to compose an ultimate designer burger.

On arrival we were presented with a couple of Chop Shop’s rather pleasant signature house cocktails – ‘The Royal Blush’ certainly made our cheeks rosy, and so did the ‘Passione Arrabiata’- its potent and delectable calabrian chilli olmeca reposado tequila had a fair kick to it.

Chop Shop is casual and accessible with the name referring to the cut of meat as well as chopped meats and salads. Both the menu and design hint at the spirited and edgy influences of New York and London, which create a lively neighbourhood restaurant. We highly recommend a visit!
