Cartizze Bar Negroni Trolley low res
Destination cocktail and Bellini bar Cartizze – nestled along the cobbles of Lancashire Court in Mayfair – has unveiled its newest addition to the bar: an antique Empire-style drinks trolley dedicated exclusively to the negroni. We popped by to hear more about the drink and to see the bar.

Filled with all the classic cocktail-making accoutrements, the Negroni Trolley will be brought to each table to tempt discerning drinkers and Cartizze’s expert mixologists will offer guests a variety of Negroni twists made to-order on the spot. Our host was very knowledgeable and talked us through the drinks list.

Dating back to the early 20th century – the same time the classic cocktail originated in Italy –the vintage brass trolley is resplendent in rosewood and glass, with cut-crystal glasses, sleekcocktail shakers and a selection of spirits and garnishes.

Though the negroni may appear straight forward to make, it encompasses a delicate balance of bittersweet, sharp and herbal flavours which, when combined by skilled hands, results in a decadent and delicious cocktail – guaranteed to warrant ordering another before you’ve finished your first.

To taste the true spirit of this fabulous, flame-coloured aperitivo, order the Vintage Negroni(£50), an exclusive and classic blend made with 1960’s Carpano Vermouth, Antica Formula and Martini Rosso.

Other options include: Classic Negroni (£14) – Portobello Gin, AnticaFormula and Campari, Cartizze Negroni (£14) – Portobello Gin, AnticaFormula, Campari, Aperol and Martini Rosso, Graponi Negroni (£14) – Cointreau, Antica Formula, Campari, sugar syrup and clarified grapefruit juice

The tipple trinity of gin, Campari and vermouth has long been beloved by bartenders the world over and Cartizze is the ideal spot to try this sexy and sophisticated sipper; whether it’s your first taste or you’re a cocktail connoisseur, Cartizze’s Negroni Trolley will be the benchmark for every other interpretation. We were very fond of ours and look forward to popping in again in the future.
