HIX Goes Wild high res

Autumn’s the time to pick, forage, eat and celebrate all the wondrous wild food and great fresh produce Britain has to offer – and this year, no one will celebrate in quite as grand a style as HIX Mayfair at Brown’s Hotel.

From Monday 28th September to Sunday 4th October, Brown’s Hotel will be getting a wild food twist, and there’ll be a headline event on the evening of Wednesday 30th September – the usually discreet and elegant HIX Mayfair restaurant will be transformed into a bustling wild food market.

In a change to the standard layout and traditional dining experience, up to 12 vibrant market stalls and cooking stations will be dotted around the restaurant – including a number of established HIX suppliers. Diners will be able to walk the market with their plates, piling them high with everything from exquisite fresh fish to succulent game – done three ways by the team from the Blackface Meat Company – to herbs, flowers and fodder picked by expert forager Miles Irving.

Director of Food Mark Hix and Executive Chef Lee Kebble will both be on hand to talk guests through the mouth-watering foodstuffs on offer, and a number of special demonstrations will take place throughout the evening. To complement the wild food, a number of cocktails cleverly infused with wild flowers have been created, and an extensive list of matching beers and ciders will also be available.

Throughout HIX Goes Wild week, an exotic six-course wild food tasting menu will be available in HIX Mayfair, that includes Yorkshire Dales wild rabbit, yellow chanterelle and cobnut salad, and an Elderberry buttermilk pudding. In addition, an innovative Wild Afternoon Tea will be served – the highlight of which is Wild Dumfriesshire duck on toast with billberries and wood sorrel.

Not to be outdone, The Spa at Brown’s will be going wild too. Those looking to relax, and get back to nature while they’re doing it, can enjoy the ‘Hedge’toes pedicure’ or the ‘Skin Food Facial’, and guests of the hotel will enjoy discovering different wild flowers in their rooms at turndown.
