Nearly two decades ago, he became the youngest tailor and the first of African decent to open a store on London’s legendary Savile Row. Since then he has received an OBE for his contribution to menswear and has dressed many celebrities including Will Smith, Russell Crowe, Jamie Foxx and Mick Jagger.
He is renowned not only for his sharp British cut invigorated with African colour, but also for his efforts to foster entrepreneurial investment in Africa through his Made In Africa Foundation, making the Kamba Fine Arts showcase a natural collaboration for the designer.
Ozwald Boateng commented: “African culture is key to the future of the world, and I look forward to celebrating artists of African descent within my space.”
Until the 5th of January 2015 Ozwald Boateng is host to a group exhibition of artists represented by Kamba Fine Art at his iconic Savile Row flagship store. Kamba Fine Art has curated a bespoke exhibition for Ozwald Boateng, featuring unique pieces by artists Kofi Allen, Ingrid Baars, Dominique Zinkpe, David Godfrey and Jean-Baptiste Sevette.
Kamba Fine art founder Leyla Simple commented about the collaboration: “We hope that the combination of art – Ozwald’s and the artists we bring together – will create something truly unique for those who attend the show.”
