Recently we were invited back to sample the highly anticipated tasting menu from Park Lane’s newest members club, Le Peep Boutique. Daringly, the club went for a healthy and completely organic, locally sourced menu that is also a 21st century twist on traditional Parisian street food.
Created by leading nutritionist Christian Coates of Soulmate Food, whose clients include Daisy Lowe and Lisa Snowdon. Together with chefs formally from The Fat Duck, Northcote Manor and Duck & Waffle, Coates has created a nutritionally balanced and gastronomic experience.
Fresh oysters, supergreen arancini, duck a l’orange, yellow seared tuna fin loin and purple chips are a few of the dishes created for the restaurants six course tasting menu. Each includes super foods such as granola, spinach and sea purslane; lots of antioxidants known to improve your focus and productivity. Finally the speciality desert was a delicious raw dark chocolate cookie, made with organic avocado and a blueberry mascarpone. As the menu is high in alkaline foods and low in carbs, it’s not only guilt free but is supposed to work against the negative effects of alcohol consumption.
We indulged in a selection of fresh berry cocktails, champagnes and whisky, including Haig Club, the new whisky by David Beckham. We recommend The Butter and Egg Man, it is a Cognac based cocktail designed by bar manager Gavin Forbes that came beautifully served on a slate with tobacco leaf and pieces of delicious dark chocolate to bring out the flavour.
In spite of its guilt-free pleasures, the club’s interior toys with the idea of sin, inspired by the secret inner world of the 1920s peep show. Throughout the evening we were treated to dancers and live music from Stephanie McCourt and In To The Moon.
Restaurant reservations at Le Peep Boutique are open to non-members from Wednesday to Saturday, 8pm till 3.30am
