Orlebar Brown partners with Gerry McGovern, the British Chief Design Officer of Land Rover to develop an exclusive capsule collection. A shared passion and interest in detail and modern design, make Gerry McGovern the perfect collaborator for Orlebar Brown.
The collection divides into three distinct sections to mirror the different facets of Gerry’s life and the lives of the Orlebar Brown man.
The sartorial Savile Row side of Gerry is reflected in the slightly tongue-in-cheek, but wholly wearable, suit you can swim in.The unlined suit is an evolution of the transitional ethos that Orlebar Brown aspires to and is made from an Italian cotton blend with white weft to replicate Chambray fabric, so you can take a dip and head off to dinner or the boardroom with ease after.
The resort story utilises Gerry’s aesthetic sensibilities. His original artwork has been reinterpreted to adornclassic Bulldogs shorts and lightweight superior soft feeling OB-Ts.A Ridley linen short sleeve shirt evokes summer in a superior Italian cotton characterised by the strength, breathability of the fabric and softness of colour. The striking brush strokes have an abstracted impression of motion that echoes his passion for modern art include colours that have been dyed to reflect the OB aesthetic.
To capture Gerry’s interest in fitness, Orlebar Brown tweaked their iconic design details, from eyelets on the outerwear to the oxidised ring snaps, to emulate a utility feel infusing both brands creative capabilities. To further enhance the shortility element, pieces feature reflective PU finishing and prints.
Speaking about the partnership McGovern said: “This collaboration brings together two of my passions, contemporary art and design and sartorial elegance. The opportunity to bring some of my thinking around the importance of modern art in today’s aesthetic environment is matched by Adam’s commitment to delivering a true customisation of a Globally renowned product. In doing so I believe we have delivered a unique vision for individualism shared by both brands.”
The partnership forms part of Orlebar Brown’s 10th Anniversary celebrations and will be available in-store and online from March 2017.
