Celebrate the start of the week with a St James’s Market Monday Masterclass and discover a world of culinary secrets in the heart of the West End.

Each Monday evening from April the restaurants of St James’s Market will be allowing guests behind the curtain to explore a variety of food and drink experiences in the best-in-class restaurants of this new dining destination. Masterclasses will take place early evening and will be priced between £15 – £20 a head, allowing guests to drop in after work and pick up a little knowledge and a lot of flavour.
Japanese brasserie Anzu kicked off on April 3rd with a tasting of three top level sakes hosted by sake evangelist Oliver Hilton-Johnson. Over the course of an hour Oliver guided guests through the finer points of sake, the customs and cultural history of the drink. Each sake came with a carefully selected food pairing from Anzu’s kitchen for example Pearl Sparkling Junmai Daiginjo sake paired with Galway Rock Oyster, Ikura and Konbu cured salmon, while Japanese Mushroom Teriuyaki was paired with Purple Warrior Yamahari Junmai.
Venetian inspired Veneta will host its first Masterclass on April 10th. With oysters in season, Head Chef Jamie Thickett will teach guests how to shuck the perfect bivalve and create delicious dressings while enjoying a glass of champagne. Other Masterclasses teed up include How to Make the Perfect Martini and a wine and cheese pairing focused on the Veneto region of Italy and it’s spectacular produce.
Nordic Aquavit London is a fresh, new concept that combines inspired signature dishes with sophisticated design. In true Nordic style they will be offering aquavit spirit Masterclasses hosted by spirit expert Jon Anders Fjeldsrud. Each tasting will take guests on a journey into the ancient traditions of aquavit to discover how it is traditionally consumed in the Nordic countries and will be accompanied by world class smorgasbord teasers to enhance the experience.
