Tiger of Sweden has been recognised with the Menswear Design Award at the WGSN Global Fashion Awards, held at the Park Lane Hotel.
A panel of international industry experts took care of the judging. The panel included The Industry’s managing director, Courtney Blackman; Eric Jennings, vice president and fashion director of Saks Fifth Avenue; Averyl Oates, director of Galeries Lafayette; Levi’s head of design, Jonathan Cheung; Ed Burstell, managing director of Liberty London; and designer Bora Aksu. “This is an very important industry award and our first outside Scandinavia.
On the award, Designer Ron McDonald says ‘Back in 1993 we were sitting in a small construction cabin with a 90 year old bankrupt brand on it’s knees. We had a simple idea – to take the suit out of the bank and onto the street. A simple idea maybe but it has obviously taken us far.’
Tiger of Sweden’s designs are known for their Scandinavian take on traditional tailoring and are available online at tigerofsweden.com and in their UK flagship store on Piccadilly. The SS16 collection will be shown in June during London Collections: Men.
